For many pupils in Burkina Faso, what may seem like a simple enough request to us, is fraught with difficulties.
National statistics suggest that 50% of all schools have no access to toilets. Pupils who need to go in rural areas are often forced to use the neighbouring ‘bush’, with all the attendant health and child safety risks..
At Soulyale, in response, we have been constructing latrines and washrooms (pictured) for a growing rural primary school.
With access to good sanitation we believe that piupils will be safer and healthier; all part of our project to improve the educational opportunities at this and other schools we support in Burkina Faso.
