Health services are currently under pressure throughout the world and Burkina Faso is no exception.

In a country that the United Nations Development Programme regularly ranks as amongst the five poorest in the world, resources in Burkina Faso are scarce and support from other organisations such as our local partners is welcomed by local government health authorities.

The Bethanie health clinic which our partners run, serves Zongo, an ‘informal settlement’ of over 120,000 people on the edge of the capital Ouagadougou.  Offering services including clinics, a small in-patients unit, a dispensary and a basic diagnostic laboratory; Bethanie is the only local health facility in Zongo and can be put under severe pressure at busy times.

Whllst patients, many of who have no regular income, are charged nominal fees for consultations, medication etc., these do not cover costs and we welcome donations to support the team of nurses and midwives, as well as further planned enhancements of the facilities and services.
