Water borne diseases are some of the biggest causes of illness in Burkina Faso and we are committed to tackling this problem, as part of our work to provide clean water and sanitation to more communities.
Many families, particularly in rural areas, have no toilets or clean water for hand washing, which can lead to the rapid spread of preventable diseases.
As part of a new project across 12 communities in the north of the country, we aim to both provide affordable toilets for more families, but also talk about the importance of good hygiene practices in staying healthy.
As is the case in many cultures around the world, talking about toilets, defecation, personal hygiene etc. is not always easy in Burkina Faso and our teams will use drama and humour to get their messages across.
