Agriculture
The main issue for agriculture in Burkina Faso is the unpredictability of the seasonal rains. For agricultural projects to be successful, projects need to manage their water resources carefully.
At Transform Burkina, we:
Support 7 different co-operatives, made up of internally displaced persons, providing them with tools and training enabling them to become self-sustaining
Teach agricultural techniques in schools, so students can then go on to become farmers. This training includes developing plant nurseries, understanding the health and medicinal properties of certain plants, learning techniques in market gardening and managing crops in a time of growing climate uncertainty.
Teach agricultural techniques in prisons where we are involved in a programme to help rehabilitate offenders and ensure they have the skills require to them progress in the outside world
£300 pays for an agricultural 'toolkit' consisting of enough seeds, fertiliser and tools etc to enable someone to become a self-supporting farmer permanently.
