Abraham Ouedraogo knows the difference a small loan can make.

Trained at our vocational training centre in the building trade, for some years he was unable to realise his dream of seting up his own business, despite the skills he obviously has.  Without the capital to buy tools and equipment it was impossible to launch out on his own, but things are very different now.

He spent time, in previous years, doing labouring work for other people, sometimes unpaid, but now he has his own thriving business and is pictured working on his latest contract, a new teachers’ house at Soulyale School in the north of Burkina Faso.

We want to give more people like Abraham the chance to realise their dreams and start out on their own.  Our micro credit scheme helps individuals to earn a living and contribute to the local economy, with small loans to start a business being paid back and then lent on to other members of the community.

Now he has his own successful small business, Abraham was recently able to also realise another dream and celebrated his wedding day earlier this year
